[?] ' Mr Warden Fielding received notification by wire on Saturday evening, of his appoint ment io the Resident Magistracy of Kal goorlie. Mr Fielding sat for the first time as R.M. at the Licensing Court on Monday morning. Mr Cutbusb, of the Kalgoorlie Hospital Committee, while in Perth on Wednesday last, interviewed the Piemier (Sir' John Foirest) on hotpital matters. REV. W. CLARKE AGAIN. TTTC SHOOTS iT SOME BOYS. The Rev J. W. Clarke, who was before the public for some time past, was having dinner at an hotel at Moore field,, and' was annoye'i by the insolent remarks of a party of boys, who^tdpp.'d their rudeness by throwing a cat through his window. Mr Clarke was irritated at length beyond endurance, and rushing to the window fired his' revolver. The bullet struck a post 40 feet away. Pfacke, the- Dutch athlete,, still re mains in an unsatisfactory condition, and itis-believed he is suffering from fracture of the base o£ the skull. The death sentence has been passed upon Fred K. Whitel.y, who recently shot his wife.

MINING COMPANIES. The Mount Torrens Gold Mining Coy., cnpital £120,000 has been regis teied, and shares to the numberof 25,000 have been fully subscribed for. The Mount Prophecy and Perseverance G.M. Coy., Pilbarra, capital £120,000 has been registered, and shares to the number of 60,000 are offered to the, pulilic. Weld Hercules G.M. Coy./ Murchison, with a capital of £120,00Q has also been registered, and the public are invited to subscribe for shams to the .number of 40,000. The following new companies have been registered :— Lone Hand G.M. Coy., Ceolgardie, 150,000 shares, 55,000 offered to tho public ; Golden .Australian Co, quarter million, forme 1 for the purpose of dealing with mines, shares to the value of £150,000 offered for public subscription ; Euron G. At no stage in the history of the aensacional Dean case has the excite ment run so high as yesterday, when the news was circulated that Messrs Dean, Meagher and Crick were arrested on a chase 'of conspiracy to prevent the course of justice. Mr Crick had left .. :his office early to get luncheon before proceeding to the Canterbury Park races, and was seated in an oyster saloon with Mr Levien, a prominent member of the Protectionist party, when the news was imparted to him of his partner's arrest at his office in Philip street.'
