FAMILY'S TERRIBLE ORDEAL The following Is an extract of. a letter received by a friend of a Dor rigo resident who lost everything in the recent bash, fires :—"We have beea burned out, and only for Will, Mrs Doust, and Mrs Johnson, we would have lost our lives. The fire travelling at the most teriffic rate, overtook us while we were working in the house, and for the time Ave were imprisoned. Oh God ! it was awful. Will rushed outside and ob tained water to throw on to our wrooden home. He kept up the work for four hours, and we were able to subdue many sparks which lodged in the rooms. We finally got out of the house, which was destroyed. Now we are in bed at Mi's Newman's. Will cannot see, as he was blinded by the smoke, aud lean just open my eyes. The pain is awful. We have lost everything—pails, separa tors, stock, fencing, garden, coach house. fowls, and home."
