HAWTHORN FOOTBALL CLUB. [Newspaper Article] — Hawthorn and Camberwell Citizen — 3 April 1914

HAWTHORN FOOTBALL CLUB. The citizens of Hawthorn will for the first time in the history of their city be represented in the football world by a senior team, which has only come about through the energy and hard work of the last season's committee. Mr. A. Gough, of Essendon Asso- ciation team, has been appointed coach, and, under his capable management, coupled with his excel- lent knowledge of football, the team should give a performance, during the season, worthy of their admittance to senior ranks. Camberwell Football Club favoured Hawthorn with a practice match last Saturday, but the former team, although putting up a good, strenuous light, were not equal to beating Haw thorn, who won by 8 goals to 4 goals. At the Sports Ground, at Glenfer- rie, on Saturday, April 4, a practice match will be played with the Caul- field team. The Council have to be thanked for the splendid dressing and train- ing rooms which have been erected at the Sports Ground. As the season promises to be an e...
