Effectual Curt far Diunftrnneii.— A workman belonging to a manufactory In the Fatix-hourg du Temple, in Paris, having remained, absent from his work fora week, duiing which time he gave himself up to drink, his companions, by way of punishment, agreed lo lung him in effigy, and af terwards lo perform a mock funeral. They ob tained a sufficient quantity of hit clothes to dress up a manikin, wliich, after having been suspended the proper time, was carried to a house outside the Barrier, where the ceremony of in terment was to be arranged. In the mean lime, one of the party accidentlly met the defaulter himself, end informed him of all that was passing. (From the Morning Star.) On Wednesday last, Ills Excellency the li'm tenant Governor, nuiewtd llie 21,1 Fu-ileeis, at the Military Hatrarks. We uud»rs'aid. that with the internal and external arrangements of lite corps his Encdlenry riprclied himself highly pleased. The regiment, in its evolutions, was com manded by Major Fairweaiher. At far as the whaling season is advanced, we congratulate both "owners" and "whalers," on     a remunerating prospect. By a letter from Spring Bay, we learn, that the whales are beginning to show in that quarter. Walpole's party have killed three, and cut from one. Our Correspondent has intimated his intention of communicating anything of importance from that quarter, during the whaling season of which we shall readily avail ourselves. COURT OF QUARTER SESSIONS, Launceston, June 16, 1835   COTTRELL V BELL - The long talked of case of Cottrell v. Bell, for sell ing Wine upon a Licence which had not been signed by the Police Magistrate, came on for argument this day, before P. A. Mulgrave, Esquire, chairman, Messrs. Yeoland, Bartley, and Wellman. Mr. Solicitor Gleadow appeared for the informer, and Mr. Bell conducted his own case. Mr. Henry Pyke, sworn._I am clerk to Mr. Bell; he bought several quantities of Wines at the beginning of the year, he had three or four half pipes of Wine in his stores about the tenth or twelfth of January he sold a   half pipe of Wine on or about the ninth of that month to Mr. Brewer; it contained fifty-seven gallons. I recol lect giving evidence at the Police Office. I stated the same there, the Wine was charged to Mr. Brewer on Mr. Bell's books. I do not know the price ; Mr. Bell sold the wine himself.
