DEATH. [Newspaper Article] — The Raleigh Sun — 4 March 1898

DEATH Our Bowra correspondent writes, — The many friends of Constable Reynolds will re- gret to hear of the death of his youngest son, which occurred at about 5.30 p.m. on the 24th ultimo. The child had been ailing slightly for a few days, and although no serious con- sequences were anticipated, Mr. and Mrs. Reynolds decided to obtain medical advice, and on Wednesday morning Mrs. Reynolds, accompanied by her eldest son, left for the Bellinger, where they arrived early in the afternoon, and at once proceeded to the resi- dence of Mr. Hicks, who, assisted by Mrs Hicks, did all that medical skill could do to relieve the little sufferer, but in spite of all their efforts he succumbed next day. The day, strange to say, was the fourth anniver- sary of the little fellow's birthday. Imme- diately on Constable Reynolds being informed that the worst was-feared, he started for the Bellinger, and arrived there a few hours be- fore his son's death. When the sad news reached Bowra, numbers of sym...

Constable Constable, of Nambucca Heads, has been attending to the police duties at this station, as In spector Baker very kindly wired seven days' leave of absence for Constable Reynolds as soon as he became aware of his illness.                       There is not much news here. Nanee is away in Sydney, Mcllngh is at the Heads, W, Barry has returned from the city, Sweeiiey has gone to the Macleay, and Bowra is Hat. A heavy form of cold, almost similar to ' la grippe,' is very prevalent, several of our residents bein...
