After the outbreak the fire hurricaned south wards, until the city became one mass of flamo two miles in length , and three-quarters of a mile wide. Surprise, Party. A very pleasant and enjoyable even ing,, was spent at Mr. W. D,_ P. O'Brien's country residence, ' Rose-r bank,' on /Wednesday last, the oc casion being a surprise party given by a few of Mr. and Miss O'Brien's friends' to the Misses O'Briens, 'who h'ave gono out to 'Eosebank' per manently. Dancing was kept up till the small hours of the -morning, the music'' being supplied by Messrs. Brumby, H. M'Inerney — concertina and banjo — and the Misses O'Brien and Smith — piano. Mr. P.
