On the Fringe of the Crowd. "The Oulooker sees most of the Game." [Newspaper Article] — The Corowa Chronicle — 28 October 1905

On the Fringe of the Crowd. : [By Onlooker.] 'The Onlooker Bees most of the Game.' '-'Corowa presented a lone forlorn (appearance on Friday, when the World and his wife had gone to Beech worth. A walk down Sanger-street made one melancholy and inclined to step softly and reverently as in some bid cathedral crypt where the dead lie near. At the street corners a few survivors stood on duty like the la'st of their race, and one or two stray dogs| that had in their inno cence intruded into the silent street, looked shamefaced and afraid.' There was a fine attendance, and, beyoud doubt, all those present had a real good time. The hall was prepared by Mr: Falconer Fraser, with the assistance of his brother and Mr. C. Clayton, and, although the evening's entertain ment was a little late in starting, nineteen tables were filled with determined ' triers' for the prizes. The final of the card playing re sulted in Miss McLean again prov ing a champion euchre player, and that lady was accordingly presented with a handsome pair of vases, the disposal of which had originated the idea of holding the eutertain inent. Mr. Hanna secured the fat lamb donated by the Mayor as the gentlemen's prize, and Mrs. Cliivell aud Mr. Arthur Parkiu had at least the distinction of getting a prize, even if it was only the 'booby.' After the room had been cleared by a few willing helpers, and supper partaken of by those present, dan...
