Court of Petty Sessions, Cooma. MONDAY, JANUARY 12. (Before R. Dawson and J. W. C. Merryweather, Esq's, J.P.'s) [Newspaper Article] — The Manaro Mercury, and Cooma and Bombala Advertiser — 16 January 1863

Court of Petty Sessions, Cooma. MONDAY, JANUARY 12. (Before R. Dawson and J. W. C. Merryweather, Esq's.-JP.'s) John Devereux of Billilingro appeared on summons to answer the complaint of Mrs. McIntyre of Cooma creek, who charged him with having ridden her horse. Defendant admitted the charge, but pleaded extenuating circumstances. The Bench took a lenient view of the matter and fined Devereux £1. Andrew McCloud was brought up in custody charged with absconding from the hired service of Mr.C. Wright of Bobundra. Mr. Wright did not press the charge, and the magistrates after severely lecturing McCloud, which he undoubtedly deserved, discharged him. A hawkers licence was granted to Samuel Hammond for the.ensuing 12 months.     On Tuesday, before the same magistrates, a pub- licans licence was granted to Mr. J. Ward for a new house in Bombala-street, to be called the "Free Selector."
