Loading Goods at Sydney Railway. ROYAL COMMISSIONER'S FINDING. A good deal of interest in pro ducing districts contres in the In quiry lately conducted by Mr. Wilfred Blackett, as a Royal Com missioner, into the methods of the railway department in handling produce and other goods at Darl ing Island station in Sydney. The commissioner has just issued an interim report, in which he deals at length with the matters brought before him. The princi pal question was as to the pro vision of labor for unloading goods from lorries on to the trucks at the station, as to whether the carriers should do the work or the railway department bo charged with the responsibility. Ths Royal Com missioner says he comes to the clear conclusion that adequate pro vision is not made for the hand ling of outward merchandise at Darling Island, in this respect, that labor necessary for loading such merchandise into trucks is not provided. Flour WltlS Employees' Award. The award of the wages board dealing with millers and millers' employees throughout New South Wales was published in Sydney on Monday. It provides substantial concessions in wages and working conditions. The award is to re main in operation for three years. It sets forth that the minimum rales of wages payable to adulta shall be £2 8s. The minimum for other employees is : 17 years, 15s per week ; over 17 and uuder 18, 17s Ud ; over 18 and under 19, 20s ; over .19 and under 20, 25s ; over 20 and not 21, oOs. The life offices at the same date all told carried £157,230, 178 of assurance in the ordinary branch, and £10,7-17,850 in the in dustrial branch.

HUMEBUSH STOCK MAUKKIS. Messrs. Harrison, Jones atid Devlin, Ltd., report that a iirmcr tone ruled in the sheep market on Thursday. There were about 40,000 sheep and lambs forward, comprising a fair sprinkling of good trade merino wethers, the bulk consisting of medium and plain, and only odd lots of choice. Ewes were plentiful, mostly of indifferent quality and occasional lots of prime. Crossbrcds were well represented and prime were in good request. All gections of the trade operated. Sales opened quite equal to the best ol Monday last, improving during progress, and clos ing stronger and firmer for good and prime descriptions. Prime quality may be quoted from 6d to 9d firmer, while medium and plain were linn at last day's rates, There was a full yarding of lambs, chielly trade sorts, a fair sprinkling of good, occasional lots of prime, also a ' number of plain light sorts.
