CAULFIELD REST HOME. On Monday evening, October 9, the soldiers at the Military Rest Home, Caulfield, were entertained by a first class concert, organised by Miss Grace Clinch, Ivanhoe, and Miss B. Vickery, Northcoto. The programme, Which was greatly appreciated by the soldiers, con sistedof pianoforte solo, vocal solo and duets, dialogue, recitations, quartettes and conjuring tricks. At the close of the concert a hearty vote of thanks was ac corded Miss Clinch and party by Mr Headen (Y.M.C.A.), and4 the hope ex pressed that they would give another concert at an early date. On Wednesday afternoon the children from several of the schools in this shire paid the soldiers a visit, and entertained them, also leaving them several hundred eggs and other appreciable articles of diet. -

There was perfect weather on Satur day last for the opening of the green, when thle president (1r May) congratu lated the club upon the progress that was being made, and on the increase of mem bers. He was glad to say that they still had the loyal support of the ladies, and there was plenty of work for members to do for some years to come. ANTI-CONSCRIPTION.: MEETING AT IVANI[OE... CIIEERS FOR CONSCRIPTION. A meeting wis held in the Rechabite Hlall, Ivanhoe, on Saturday evening, and the small building nWas packed to the doors. Mr Bryning, of Fairfield, pre/ sided. There were constant interjections and questious, and froim the manner of the cheering, when ""conscription,"' '(?Eng lish workers," aid loyalist terms were mentioned, it was evident that the meet ing was against tl!e views of the speakers. Miss Vida Goldstein was the first to eudeavor to appeal to the audience, by dealing with thc censorship and com plaining about tlhe difficulty her party had in getting halls in which to speak. She advised the women to rote " No" on the conscription issue, and said that Mr Hughes had not received any man date to send so many men to.thefrout, and that the voluntary systemn had not broken down. Rev. Hy. Robinson's Jubilee. The Rev Hernry Robinson, Metho dist minister, Heidelberg, has just completed 50o yeas as a minister of the.gospel. Before Methodist union Mr Robinson was a minikser of t(le. 1 Primitive Methodist Cnf,. ,nce .:d' filled the presidcnti.;l , .is wc i. as. being Secretary of Confereielbon two occasions. He also held miiny other important positions with- that body, and was held in high esteem. About four years ago Mr Robinson retired from the active work of the ministry, and went to reside at Hei delberg, from which place he was married some 46 years ago. Dur ing the four years he has been at Heidelberg, although he need not have done so, he has has thrown himself whole-heartedly into the york of the Methodist church there, and it has made great progress, for which, as ; was mentioned at. the meeting on Tuesday evening, he de served most of the credit.
