Soveial gentlemen in this district, among whom are two magistrates, havo been kind enough to saddle your agent with iu authorship. I am not going to enter into the merits or demerits of the letter in question, but to request that you will permit mo to deny through your columns, any knowledge of it, except the reading of it, in common with the multitude of your readers and sub scribers, and to express a hope that those gentlemen, who have been so free with the ' cap supposed to fit,' will do the amende honorable as become men of dignity, by ex pressing their rcgrotas publicly as they havo been wont to talk of persons behind their hacks.
