SWAN HILL FIRE BRICADE. OFPIOIAL REPORT. The following is the official report of Deputy - Chle! Officer J. C. Ellis, of the ·Country Fire Brigades'. Board, in connoection with -his recent annual visit of inspection to Swan Hill: Plant-Two hose reels, 1000ft. hose, B hydrants, 7 branches, 38ft. ladders, 2 Y couplings, axe, firehook, 10 torchee. Members-On roll, 15; present, 13; absentees working. Inspection-At 7 o'clock there was a good muster, the night being very warm, but the lads were anxious to have a run at the reel work. They have a new limestone road made in Campbell street and a 7-in. main laid, which is a great boon to these men 9to practise. They ran the six men reel, the run being clean throughout, the water about 281bs. They afterwards put up a good four, and then we went back to the station and went through the 4-men Marshall and 2-men. On going outside some good running was done at the one man disabled. SWAN HILL IRRICAATION SEVERE CRITICISM. In an article in the "Bendigo Inde pendent"' by that journal's special re porter severe criticism is indulged in on the management of the Swan ill irri gation settlement by the Water Supply Commission and thle Government. It has been an open secret for some time past that much discontent has prevailed among the settlers, and that many of them are very dissatisfied at the con ditions under whicn they have had to carry on, and'also at the alleged unfair treatment they have received. The representative had an interview with a number of the settlers, from which we give the following: Mr. L.
