Many a calculation ka been made of the motive power which might be farnisberl by the Falls of Niagara ; and it would teem that the time ia about coming when this moat powerful cataract on the globe will no longer wast its strength in Tain. Two or three years ago canal, 80 feet in width by 10 in depth, extending from a point on thia side the river, about 11K) yards above the rapiJs, through the rear of the present Tillage, to a bank a mile below the falls, was. com menced and ia now completed.
