Simmons has been appointed special Agent for the Indians at Milk River Agency, and has received his appointment therefor from the Secretary of the interior. We believe now this was un4erstood wheni his name was withdrawn by the Prcsident as Agent of the B!i:akfeet. NEW NORTH- WEST. Jam. I. ,3llls *. * - Editor ALD PUSL.MtlI. DEER LOIDGE CITY, FRIDAY, FEB. 17 "TO BE, OR NOT TO BE " We reprint from the Idaho Statesman an article on "The Territorial Condition." We have, ordinarily, a liking for the States man. Its tone is generally good, its arli cles well considered, their arguments clear. conciso and pointcd. The one referred to is dyspeptic. It practically asserts the Territories are losing flesh, and recom mends disemboweling as a remedy. Hav lng set up housekeeping for ourselves and not grown rich and powerful in a decade, we are advised to burn the house, throw the children in the well, and packing the darty linen of failure back to our Uncle Sam, confess we hadn't nerve to go through the struggle for independence and crave to be taken| back like the Prodigal. Or, if not that, to be tagged on to Nevada like so many pips on a potato. Idaho can do this if it will, and Congress concurs. But Montana, as we know it, is not nsmtttious for a.snnih...
