FARM AND GARDEN. When to tubs in Clover. Id the re gions where green crop aro turned under for manure, there is a diversity of practice. Some plow when the crop in in its most uo culent Hlato. Tho rule for clover is whoa the heads are about lnilf turned brown. The reason offered for this practice is, thut the bulk of tho crop is tticn the greatest, and it undergoes most rupid decomposition in the soil. Others do not plow in clover until lute in the full, and after it has been well postered. Tho reason they givo for this practico arc : 1. That turning in the clover green, makes foil sour, and has a tendency to pro duce sorrel. 2. It has a bad influence upon subsequent crops. 3. In waiting until full, you have tho ad vantage of pasturing, and if the cattle are kept upon the pasture, ns they should, ev erything the field produces is returned to it 4. More carbonaceous matter is returned to tho soil; what you luso in tops you gain in the roots of the clover, which have four or fivo mont...

FARM AND GARDEN. Fall Care or Garden. We have more than onoe ipokon of tho tendency; which to often provaile among farmers to neglect proper attention to their gardens at all eeasona of the year. The farm appears so much more Important in the extent of its productions, and in the mount of labor required to koop it in prop. r condition, that the household part of the grounds, the garden, is too often left to toko caro of itself, or loll to tho care of thono who are unablo to work it proporly.' In the season of planting, the comparatively tri fling work that is required to mako a good garden is withheld, on the plea that thcro it more pressing work in tho field. The farmer who acts on this principle does an injury to himself and to' his" friends; for nothing contributes moro to tho supply and tho comfort of tho pociitl board than a pro ductive garden. It may bo mado almost half tho support of a family, and, with its small fruits, its roots and its vegetables of every description, it a...
