Miles had another buttlo with the hostile on the 15th at Umatilla Agency In which the latter were routed and scattered with considerable loss in killed and wounded. The' Umatillas fought with Col. Forsyth's command of cavalry and brought in 22 scalps and 800 horses. The hostilo.Indians divid- ed one party going to tho head of Milky Creek and tho other towards Grande Hondo Kiver. Tub return of Lord Beaconsfiold to London on tho ICth was made tho oc- casion of a general demonstration in which leading men of both parties par- ticipated. From Charing Cross to Downing Street places of business were closed tho buildings wero' gaily deco- rated and tho streets wero filled with crowds of peoplo who greeted the suc- cessful Plenipotentiary with enthusiastic cheers.
