The Belgium smugglers are getting moreingenious. The custom-house officers observed some plaster of paris which had fallen from a beam ; they examined the latter and found that it wa3 hollow, con taining 500 kilos tobacco of the value of 7000 francs. Meanwhile the carrier had disappeared and reached Belgian frontier. Altogether 10,000 francs worth of tobacco was found to be smuggled from France. USEFUL HINTS. - To Wash Lamp Chimneya.— Tear old news papers into email pieces, dip into water which has a little ammonia dissolved into It, and wash the lamp -chimneys. Just rinse, drain dry, and polish with a leather. To prevent your hair from falling off, wet the scalp twice each week with salt and water.
