Toe ,Coal-inainl Company Limited. IMPROVED PROSPECTS. The ordinary half-yearly meeting of the Moe Coal-mining company was held on Wednesday aInst at Scott's hotel, D)r Moore in the chair. There was. a fair attendance of shareholders. The secre tary read the half-yearly report and ba:l ance sheet. The latter stated the actual cash assets of the company to be £851 10s above its liabilities. The report gave a short sketch of the operations that had been done during the past half-year. Shortly after the last meeting, Mr John Robb the acting manager (who was put int charge between the resignation of Mr Doey, the late nanager, and the appoint mlont of Mr William Burns. the present holder of that position). reported that he thought more coal could be got out of the present workings. In conjunction with Mr John oewis, a well:known ex port, who had visited and reported on the mine, Mr, Robb suggested that before sinking a shaft, bores should be put down across the gully, and an endeavour mad...
