OBITUARY, •MR. J. DOHERTY'S CHILD. Mr. John J. Doherty, of Gillies street, lost a bright little girl, Mary Josephine, 5 years, on Tuesday-last, the cause of death being gangrenous pharyngitis. Much sympathy is felt for the parents and family, who are highly respected residents of the town. The casket, bearing the mortal remains of the child, was interred in the Benalla cemetery on the 5th inst. Dev. Father O'Reilly officiated, and Mr. T. Hanlon had charge of the funeral arrange ments.

Bill to Secure Aliens -0 Right Hon. Reg. M'Kenna has introduced a Bill in the House of Commons for the purpose of appre hending and securing persons who may be regarded as dangerous aliens.
