A few days beDore his death he gave one of the Sisters £5 to hand to Matron, McIntosh (hon. ((rcasurer) for tr.e Re4,tuross. CHALLENGE BILLIARDS Saunders v. Saxon [Newspaper Article] — The Leader — 17 October 1946

CHALLENGE BILLIARDS -« Saunder» v. Saxon Knights of the cue in Liverpool are agog over the important challenge match which has been arranged between the School of Arts champion Alf Saunders and Arthur Saxon* late champion of Toowoomba, Qld. The contest is set d;wn for Thursday, the 31st of thia month on the School of Arte tables, and interest in its outcome is considerable, for Artie wields a cunning cue and has GO impressed his backers that they are putting a poultice on him to toss the champ. When a Leader reporter visited Saun- ders at his training quarters the cham- pion expressed every confidence in his ability to hold off the challenger. "I'll do this Saxofi birdi," he asserted.
