Football* Concert at Yarck: The above was held in the public hall on Wednesday week last, and proved a splendid success. The hall was packed and a first-class programme was given; under the direction of Miss Laity,.of Bendigo. The special feature ofthe evening was the items of the Yarck State School children (Mr. J. E. Elliott, head master), who were under the above lady's tuition, and she deserves the highest thanks of the club for the way she worked in bringing the entertainment to such an Undoubted success. Both, teams were leading in the competition, so that more than usual interest was taken in the match to see which team would be successful in winning and gaining the lead, and about 200 people were present, a fair number coming from Yarek. Wedding. RENNIE - CONSIDINE. A pretty wedding was celebrated at St. Brigid's R.O. Church. Ilealesville, on the 13th ult., between Mr. Robert Ronnie~ eldest son of the late Mr. Robert Rennie, of "The Corrie," Upper Thornton, and Miss Maggio Considnoe, eldest daughter of Mr. J. Considine, Icealeaville. The church was artistically decorated by the lady friends of the bride, and the cere, mony was performed by the Rev. Father Byrne. The bridesmaids were Miss Katie Considine and Miss Rennie, who wore pretty frocks of white mushlin and pale blue hats, and carried shower bouquets of pink roses and autumn leaves. When the State Governor (Sir Reginald Talbot) visited Alexandra a couple of months ago, His Excellenc:y inspected the local State school, and in speaking to the scholars, promised to send them a porrrn sait of Queen Alexandra. Last week, the head teacher (Mr. Rudd) received a letter from the private secretary stating that the portrait had arrived from England and would be forwarded in a few days. The picture was received by Mr. Rudd* on Wednesday last, and is a large and beautiful portrait of the Queen encircled in a nice frame. The picture will be hung in one of the class rooms.
