Whether (ho habit can be permanently br...

Tho boy broko a leg, but tho women es caped uninjured savo in tho manner afore said. Tho towels used in thoro by tho customers, malo and female, aro never washed, but dried in tho sun, hung up on strings along tho wall facing tho stroot. Sketcher. Senor Castelar. [Newspaper Article] — Riverina Recorder — 2 March 1887

Slietcfocr. Senor €aste)ur. Caatolar ia known throughout Kuropo an really tho most complete oxpresoiou of Spanish eloquence Ho carries his wor ship of form almost to idolatry : his clo quenco is music, his diction tho slavo of his ear. He says or does not say a thing ; or rather ho says it hotter in ono sense than in another, according as it rounds or does not round a period. Ho has a har mony in his mind ; ho follows, obeys it, and sacrifices to it all that olldiida. His periods aro strophes ; it is necessary to hear in order to beliuvo that human lan guage without poetic measure can thus approach the harmony of poesy and of song. He is' more tho artist than tho poli tician ; ho has not only tho genius but tho heart of tho artist — the heart of a child, incapablo of enmity or of malice. In all bin specimens there is no.tto_ bo found an abusive epithet ; in tlrO Cortes ho has novor provoked a serious personal on counter ; has nover rocourso to a satiro, nor oven makes uso of irony. ...
