Tram Collision. [Newspaper Article] — The Richmond River Express and Casino Kyogle Advertiser — 30 December 1904

Tram Collision. A tuam collision; luckily without serious consequence?, occurred near Handwick racecourse on Monday. Three crowded cars were proceeding to La Perouse, and when at the corner of Ascot-street and .Eastern Avenue, an electric tram, made up of a ear and trailer, coming empty from the race course to town, crashed into it. Gveat confusion prevailed. The passengers on the steam tram got out as quickly as possible. The impact was so severe that men, women, and children were thrown from their seats, and were very much shaken. One child sustained an injury to her knee, but that was the only casu alty reported. Both trams were badly damaged, the electric tram siiffeiitig most. The front of tho engine was also knocked ab'Ut. The matter was at once reported to the Tram Superintendent, who made arrangements for the passen gers to continue their journey to La Perouse.
