From the May svlHe Bulletin. PARA DISK A few, snort years ago, I stood Upon the verge of womanhood, And gazed with eager, longing sjes, Toward woman's earthty Paradise; They paused away those early years, So fraught with loves, and hopes, and fear. And now I stand and look once more, ' Buck, to that fair enchanted shore. How many launched a barque, like me, On k tempestuous, untried sea! Uow many have seen their ships go down While they still wear the thorny erown ! Full freighted argosies, like mine, Have sunk beneath the surging brine, Fond loves, bright hopes, ambitions bigb, All wrecked, beneath the billows lie. And still the waters rise and swell, 'Hound the lone island, where I dwell, And backwark look, to where the sand Gleams brightly, In that dlstand 1 nU, That land of beauty, far away, Where young love hallowed night and day. Where with light heart, and footstep free, I watched my boats go out to sea. This detert l-le is not my home, 31 t feet shall soon cease here to roam...
