MINING. MOUNT CHARLOTTE. [Newspaper Article] — Kalgoorlie Miner — 5 October 1895

MINING. MOUNT CHARLOTTE. A trial run of the Mount1 Charlotte dry crushing was. made on Friday, when the whole of the c u-hing works ran smoothly, but the div blowing I machines will need to be regulated £. before they give complete satisfaction. | This is the first attempt made to work I an entirely dry process of -crushing f and separation on the field, and its [ success will be looked for witn a good I deal of interest. In tie event of the *- machines failing to save the very fine gold it is intended to erect cyanide works to treat the tailings, which will be in the best possible condition for chemical treatment. The mine is open ing up splendidly, and in addition to the main line of lode a parallel vein averaging ooz per ton is being driven on. Two of the company's leases are being floated off in London, and it is expected that a verf big cashdividend ^addition to shares in the new com * pany will be paid to the shareholders a-, in the old company.

REEFER'S EUREKA. [Newspaper Article] — Kalgoorlie Miner — 5 October 1895

'REEFER'S EUREKA. This company, 'which was floated in Adelaide some time ago, has secure'd an evidently valuable mine. It con sists of 18 acres, situated north of the Mount Charldtte about a mile, and is being systematically opened up. Three Hhafts in an east and west line across the formation are being sunk with a view of crosscutting rig it through the hill and thus proving its value. The westerly shaft is down 33ft, and has eut a formation of quartz, iron, and gossan, carrying fine gold, which .?ipparently runs along the west side of the hill. The prospector--' shaft sunk on the eastern slope of the hill is down 70ft, and was sunk ta open up a rich formation met with in prospecting on the surface. At a depth of 40ft this opened up to a solid vein of iron stone 3ft in width, and in places carrying patches of gold almost as i-icli as the best specimens in the Boulder. This has been -driven -on for ;i length of 30 feet; and it is doubtful if the wall has been met with on either side...

THE KALGOORLIE MINER PUBLISHED DAILY. SATURDAY, OCTOBER 5, 1895. [Newspaper Article] — Kalgoorlie Miner — 5 October 1895

. THE KALGOORLIE MINER PUBLISHED DAILY. SATURDAY, OCTOBER 5, 1895. This morning \ye are compelled -to publish almost entirely without tele grams owing to the shameful state of the telegraphic service of the colony. For some days an attempt has been made to bring the business up to- date by clearing the lines of the messages which for weeks have been aeeunm lating. With this end in view all urgent wires feave been stopped, and the result has been that to ensure im portaat messages reaching: their desti nation they have- been sent as cables to Bangewange from Adelaide and Melbourne, and back thence to- Kal goorlie. The s-une system has had to be adopted in getting messages to the Eastern Colonies from the field. In the meantime the block on the lines 'was slightly reduced',, but now confu sion' is worse confounded owing to the fact that the telegraph line is down between Coolgardie and Southern Cross and between that township and Perth. It is impossible to pay when communicniion will ...
