^aOBART.. [BY ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH. [*ROM ODn OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Novembir 19. Messrs It. Kennedy and Sons will ship, per s.s. Flora, for Melbourne, about 28 tons of silver lead smelted at their new works from various claims. The silver lead, which is the first.that has been smelted in Tas mania, will be sent on from Melbourne to England to be refined. The Attorney-General returned home yesterday from England, and on his arrival at U»e railway station was met by a large circle of friends, who drove him to the Town Hall in a four-in-hand, where his health was drunk in champagne, accom panied by musical honours, Mr. McKiinmio has been appointed postmaster at Mount Duudas, and the extended mail service betweeu Waratah and Zechau will come into operation on the 1st pros.

'The alidye company, whose registered ? office is in London, owns a large property situated to the.west of Grubb's, from which it is separated by a rather prominent ridge of rising ground. It comprises five sections, containing in all' 326 acres, extending in a north- westerly direction towards the Com stock mine. The principle workings are nn f.lie Rnuf.1i hlnck wh«re an adit has been driven north-west on the course of the lode, for a length of 280ft. It shows the Width of the formation to be from 3 to 4 foot, carrying good grade sulphide ore, of . which a considerable quantity has been won, and which was found to make in a ' series of bunches, resembling the links of a chain. The ore, however, does not rise with the hill. They have practically been driving on the capping of the lode and at 180ft from the commencement of the adit,' it pilches under foot altogether.
