Dr. II. J- Tarraut. The departure a few weeks ago of. Dr. H. J. Tarrant from this district, to a practice in the metropolis, was so sudden as to take everyone Toy surprise, and effectually to pre ent anything like' a demonstration of the high esteem in which ho was held by the general public. A committee, however, was formed, who first proposed inviting the doc tor to a public banquet, but this for good and sufficient reasons lie declined. He, however, at the earnest solicitation of the committee, consented to accept, in person, of . an address signed by tho people of the dis trict. The committee lost no timo in pro curing the best thing of its kind obtainable in Sydney — a beautifully bound and illumi nated album of some thirteen leaves, each leaf being illuminated with a design and in colours peculiar to' itself.
