In the Suprome Court on Monday last, beforo his Honor Mr. Justico Fawcott and a jury of four, tho following important caso regarding tho responsibility of coaching companies for tho lives and linibsof thoir passongors, and thoir con sequent liability in tho ovout of aecidcnt, was decided : — WILD V. RUTHERFORD AND OTHERS. Mr. Davis and Mr. IJeydon, instructed by Mr. Hoydon, of Bathurst, appearod for the plaintiff ; Mr. M. H. Stephen, instructed by Mr. Curtiss' agent, for Messrs. local Intelligence. POLICE COURT. Tuesday, 1st Auguzt. Before Messrs. Vaughn and Pyne, J's.P. T. R. Fleming v. G. Stokes. — This was a case in which defendant was complained of for keeping in his possession a vicious bird — to wit, a magpie, which did attack and en danger the life of John Richardson Fleming, a child under the age of ten years. Defendant did not appear, but handed in a written request for an adjournment of the case on the ground of sickness. Case adjourned for a week. H. Harley v. Margaret Bradshaw. — This was a charge that defendant did cruelly ill treat ten head of cattle, the property of com plainant, by keeping them for twenty-four hours without food or water. Plaintiff deposed : on Saturday, 22nd July, I saw defendant drive twenty head of cattle into her yard ; it was then about 20 minutes to 3 o'clock ; Bhe kept them there until 20 minutes past 3 on Sunday afternoon without them having anything to eat or drink ; there was nothing for them to eat in the paddock ...
