FOR THE LADIES. FROM OUR LADY CORRESPONDENT. [Newspaper Article] — Werriwa Times and Goulburn District News — 16 August 1901

rORT HEL-nOIES. From our Lady Cobrxspondbmt. * SiOie months back I heard of a pre diction regarding the royal family, to the effect that there would be three deaths in the immediate family circle, and that they would all take place within a very short spacc of time, and the prophecy has proved quite correct —first the Duke of Saxe-Coburg Gptha, then our beloved Queen Vic toria, and now the Queen's eldest daughter, after much suffering and pain, has followed her royal mother to rest. A Land Question. [Newspaper Article] — Werriwa Times and Goulburn District News — 19 August 1901

A Land Question. Ax important point arising out of tlie construction of the 47th suction of the Lnml Act of i88y lias been under the consideration of the Full Court. It appeared that a married woman Honora Luke bought out of lier separate estate a conditional purchase which was sold in connection with her husband's bankruptcy. She afterwards applied io the Lands Department to have her j name registered' as the transferee of the land, but this being refused she applied" to the Court for a mandamus directing the Minister to comply with her application. It was conceded dur ing the argument that prior to the Land Act of 18S9 applicant could have held a good title to the selection, and the question was whether the 47th section of that Act so altered the law as to deprive her of the right. Mr, Justice Stephen was of opinion that it did ; but Mr. Justice Simpson and Mr. Justice Cohen took the opposite view, and it was ordered that the mandamus should issue. All the members of the Bench wer...
