STUDENT COUNCIL The Student Council appropriated 50 dollars from Student Government Funds for the field-day, which was held under the jurisdiction of the House Rules Committee on May 11, from 3*00 pm until 6:00 pra at the Highacres athletic field. The Council voted to accept Mr. Mattern' s recommendation that the Vice-President of the Freshman Class should now become a member of the Councilas well as becoming Freshman Class President. This means that Cal Smith has taken the place of David _Drasher, who withdrew from the Center, The Council voted 30 dollars from the miscellaneous fund to be given to Parnassus for a plaque to be placed in the library dedicating it as a memorial for the students from the Center who lost their lives in Wiiif II. Mr. Longofinancial advisor, stated that the budget closed on May 13, as all cancelled checks must be sent to the main campus before the end of the semester. BEAUTIFUL AM) _SUCCESSFUL Under a warm, bright sun in our garden on Saturdaythe Sorority' s May Day Coronation Ceramony was a huge success as a r3suit of the public' s, student 's, faculty' s and weather' s cooperation. Surrounding the garden in beautiful shades of purple, pink, yellow, and white, were rhododendrons, lilacs and wild roses* In the newly painted cafeteria, the P,S»U._<A., ssrvad teas coffee, cookies and othe: refreshments to which practically all of the approximately 275 visitors took part. The remainder of the afternoon was spent touring the campus and talking to and meeting friends. About 40 couples attended the Queen' s Lance at the Eagles in the evening. At the final counting of the ballots on Friday afternoon, it was revealed that _Kowaleki went ahead of his opponent Brungard, to win the office of president. At the same "time, Sturm outraced Adams for the office of vice-president. Tomko, running with no opposition, was unanimously elected to the office of secretary-treasurer of the Sophomore class. The council members were split with Marsicano and Bobowski ¦¦ winning for the Progressives, while Bittner and Smith won for the Collegians. On the Frosh ballot, Stish came out on top and won over Reese and Zylla for the office of president. Rekas captured the office of viceprecidentj and Sacco won the seat for secretary-treasurer of the Freshman class.
