A SIX BOOM COTTAGE [Newspaper Article] — Farm Press — 1 February 1907

A SIX BOOM COTTAGE IT IS sometimes desirable to have all the rooms in a house on one floor . Generally speaking , it is easier to do the housework when there are no stairs to climb . The easiest way in the world to keep house is in a city flat ; that is , when you dont have very much in it . If you have small quarters and have as much furniture , carpets and other traps as you would have to furnish a two-story house , the work of moving it about , perhaps , is nearly equal to the task of keeping the large house in order . Families have to learn to accommodate themselves to their shell and to furnish it accordingly . Some women cannot live in a flat ; it wouldnt hold them ; they couldnt breathe and they couldnt see . They would rather go to jail . Some flats are arranged similar to this house plan , only they dont have light and air all around , with an opportunity to bathe in the glorious sunlight and to breathe all the fresh air necessary for goor health and happiness . There may b...
