Several Men Unlawfully Killed - "What Preceded and Followed the DeedsGeneral Observations. Last Saturday, a party of citizens of American birth went from Sanford and Florence to Gandara's ranch near Black-water, and became involved in a shooting scrape in which James Bodel and Pancho Gandara were Hlled. "Whatever the provocation, Bodel was first mortally shot by Gan darn, after which the latter was shot dead within twenty feet of his own house. Tho American party then went to Sanford, determined to kill Manuel Reyes and probably a few -other known desperadoes, if found; Reyes having a bad reputation and also havinpr sworn that he would kill four Americans to revenge the death of Gandara. (It ought to be said that we have not room for the details of much of interest, and fearing that in the confusion of reports many errors would creep in, we prefer to only note the gen...

THE CITIZEN. Price per Year, $5; Six Months, $3 TTTCSONjABIZOlTA Saturday, - March 1(5, 1872 Indian Agents. Civilians are to be appointed to succeed the military officers, named by General Crook last fall, in charge nf t.hn Ananhe Indian reservations in Arizona. Under the plans of the board these new appointments will be to the Dutch Reform church, -whose leading officials will soon be asked to designate the parties to do appointed. We take the above from a late num. ber of The Rocky Mountain News There must bo some error and some truth in it. General Crook did not ap point Whitman, but the sooner he is relieved by anybody the better it will be for the public and in the long run for the Indians. "We have reason for asserting that Whitman treats the orders of both Generals Schofield and Crook with willful opposition and disregard in essential particulars. Orders require Indians to be rationed once each day ; Whitman does it once in five. His course gives them time and food to make di...

THE CITIZEN. Price per Year, $5; Six Months, $3 TTT O S O IN", Saturday, - Marcli 33, 1872. The citizens of the San Pedro set tlement have forwarded a petition to the Postmaster General requesting the establishment of a Post Office at the Crossing, with J. Schaublin as Postmaster. This petition should be granted. An office there will prove a great accommodation to the people along the San Pedro. The carriage of the mails by there is a regular thing anyhow, so the cost of the new office would be but a few dollars. The regulations prohibit the carriage of letters by mail carriers outside the mail except in government stamped envelopes, which is a virtual pruhibi tion of their taking mail received at the Tucson office to the proper parties, and it is very difficult for writers to be supplied with properly stamped en velops to meet every emergency in sending their mail for posting ; so that notwithstanding the mail is carried by there three times aweek, those settlers can hardly send or...
