Burroughs, physi cian employed by the county to act in the caee. Dr. Bu.roughs unhesita tingly reports the disease varicella or chicken pox and that all the eases have a history of chicken pox. His report is on file in the county auditor's office. Dr. Whitney of Davenport confirms the decision of Dr. Burroughs and says that from the reports he has heard theie is not a case of small|>ox. Bis Blaie at Colville. Oolville, June 15. —Fire broke out in the general store of Lindsay & Wade, re sulting in almost a total lost of the stock, with insurance upon a little over a half. The fire was discovered in the grain de partment by two persons passing at the time. The alarm was quickly responded to by citizens, who prevented the flames crossing the street. Had they done so, a large part of the town would have been destroyed. The large house adjoining, occupied by Mrs. Kline as a lodging house and millin ery store and owned by a Spokane party, was totally destroyed. The loss was about $3000, with no insurance. Death of Richard I*. Bland. St. Louis, June 15.—Hon. Richard Parks Bland died at his home near Leb anon at 4:30 a. m., peacefully and with out apparent suffering. TOWN AND COUNTY. Retire From Business.—The old reliable lirm of Cloditjs, Kalkwarf & X3o. on Monday last sold their entife lumber and coal business to the White River Lumber G0.,0f Enumclaw,Wash. The change will take place about August Ist. The new company are the owners and proprietors of three large saw mills all in operation, and they doubtle-s have observed the ship ments to this point and concluded that Adams county has a future and is a fair field to locate in. Mr. Clodius will retire from business permanently, his landed interests. Mr. Kalkwarf whose health has not iieen good lately will rest for a time for recuperation.
