MONROE, LA., MARCH 11, 1871. There will be religious service in the Union Church to-morrow forenoon, at 11 o'clock, Rev. Mr. Cleeland, Presby terian mihister officiating. THE RAPFFLE FOR THE PONIES.- In the raffle to-day (Saturday) for the white match ponies, valued at $1500, our lucky friend 8. . D. McEnery, Eaq., was the winner, he throwing 44 and no one of the 300 chances being higher. Mr. McEnery had presented his ticket, before throwing, to Miss Georgia Co pley, a fkir daughter of Ouachita, well deserving so splendid a pair of ponies. Dr. E. R. Sheffield, who has been among us proseasionally for several weeks, informs us that he has deter mined, after surveying the field, to be come a permanent citizen of Monroe, with the view of practicing medicine and; surgery, fn which, pecially in diseases of the eye and ear, the Doctor has had a'vryº extensive experience.
