A very severe hurricane swept over Burlington, Iowa, on Saturday afternoon last, destroying an immense amount of property and causing the death of seven persons. The most horrible part of tho catastrophe was the destruction of T. N. Pond's butter and egg depot and tho death of seven persons. The house was blown down, and twenty-five persons were buried beneath the ruins. Sir. Pond and three others were taken out dead, and nine others were rescued more or less injured. Mr. Pond was a young man of great promise, who had built up a large trade aud was well known throughout the State.
