"YAAMOO" FrBOx BLACK BAYOU. In this issue of Trx Paoouam wil be found a communication fron "Ybahoo" from Black Bayou, wh takes issue with us regarding our po sition on the Meoringsport ferry question. "Yaahoo" says that Tai Poouases is not the first one who ham attempted to make this ferry a source of revenue to Caddo parish. On this pomt we assure him that he certainl did not read our article carefully as we by no means undertook no suct thing. On the contrary, we indorsed the actiof of lessrs. Youree, Taylor Herndon and Hall, agreeing to fur nish boats, but for the parties most interested to defray the expenses of condudting this ferry. The parish wants be revenues from this under taking: on the contrary it is willing to furnish boats for the purpose, but Tae PaoOBEss did assert, and does so still that the general tax-payes should not be forced to pay for some thing that they, directly or indirectly, received far less than its cost in re turn therefor. "Yaaboo" says further, that...

Thomas iizon, Jr., preceded the sermon in As sociation hall this morning by a review of current events devoted to the problem of immigration. He said: At last our country is forced to serious ly onsider the question of unrestricted immigration. The imminent threat of a cholera invasion next spring is a warn ing that cannot be ignored, and the cholera is a trife compared to the graver moral diseases that are today crowding over the immigrant gang plank. The profound conviction in the minds of our people that this evil must cease or the nation's life will be put in jeop ardy does not arise from a narrow hatred of foreigners. We are all foreigners in the last analysis. Our ancestors in the not very remote past came from Europe. This nation was ...
