FARM AND HOUSEOLD. 'The Hol t ekelseir. Waffles.- One pint sweet milk, four eggs, one large cupful cold rice or hominy, a little salt, flour to make a stiff batter, and Eureka yeast powder in the proportion of about two teaspoonfuls to a quart of flour. Buttermilk Muffins.--Orc quart of buttermilk, two eggs, butber the size of an egg, two level teaspoon fuls of soda mixed in a little water, two teaspoonfuls salt, flour enough to make a .thick batter. Bake in rings in a quick oven. Steam Pudding.-One quart of flour, one coffeecup of chopped raisins or currants, one teacup of chopped suet, one teacup half-filled with molasses, half a teacup brown sugar, one teaspoonful soda, two teacupfuls sweet milk, a little salt. Mix and steam three hours. Serve with sauce. Ants.-If the ants are numerous among jam and jelly pots, take a large sponge, wet it in ,cold water, squeeze it nearly dry, and then sprinkle white sugarr over it and place it on the infested shelf, and next morning dip it quick...

FARM AND HOUSEHOLD. Frosted Lemon Pie.--Juice and grated rind of one large lemon, the yolks of three eggs, cupful sugar, ,ne-third cupful milk or water, a taLblespoonful of flour. This niakes 'wo pies. Bake a light brt;wn, and ,make a frosting of three eg: and :.even tablespoons powdered sugar. Brown Bread.-One pint of corn meal; pour over it one pint boiling water, lnd a teamsp of molasees; add shorts or Graham flour enough to make a stiff batter, two eggs, a teaspoonful of soda dissolved in a little boiling water; steam three hours by putting in a pan in a steamer over a pot of hot water. Keep the water boiling steadily. Egg or Butter Gravy.-Pat into a tin dish one-quarter of a cup of butter and a large tablespoonful of dour. Set on the stove, and, as the b tterll. es, stir in the hour until smooth or free from lumps,. then pour on nearly a pint of boil ing water. FARM AND HOUSEHOLD. The Hou,-keepeIr. Rusk.--Bits of bread thoroughly dried in the oven, then rolled tine and eaten in milk are very nice and much relished by children. Doughnuts.-Take one pint of sour cream, three eggs, two cups of white sugar, one teaspoodfui of soda, season to taste. If the cream is not sour add a teaspoonful of cream tartar. Bread Cake.-Four cups crumb, two cups sugar, one cup butter, a cup of cream, two eggs, and a tea spoonful of yeast powder. Mix soft with the hands and add a little flour, also fruit and spices to suit the taste. Have a hot oven and bake a nice brown. Mutton Hash.-Chop the lean bite of cold mutton, put in a spider with a little butter and brown; have ready as much potato as you have of mutton, chopped fine, and put in with the mutton, stirring it with a knife, so that it does not stick to the pan and becomes quite thoroughly mixed.
