The Best Smoke "Cabrillo" "Home Industry" "Santa Fe" "Cor. Beach" "La Excellencia" "Emblem" For Sale by all first-class dealers and at Tent City. A. SENSENBRENNER, Manf. 1039-1047 Fourth St. SAN DIEGO The largest weekday crowd of the season gathered at the band stand to hear the excellent program arranged by Mr. Ohlmeyer. One of the choicest numbers played was the Miserere played as a trombone and cornet duet by Messrs. Paulisch and Bennett. The trombone part was rendered from a position near the bowling alleys, and, although the effect was certainly grand, it was in a degree marred by the continuous conversing of a party of females in the front row. We have several times referred to the conduct of some people at the band concerts, and have hoped that our remarks would bring about a better condition of affairs. It appears, however, that matters improve not a bit, and such being the case we can assure the offenders that more stringent measures to suppress disorder will be adopted in ...

SENSENBRENNER, Manf. 1039-1047 Fourth St. SAN DIEGO THE "HAPPY HOOLIGAN." The Happy Hooligan is a craft of which very little has been said or written, and yet it is justly famous along the bay front. The boat has no shape to speak about, leaks considerably, has a piece of a soap box for a rudder, and boasts of a sail made from a disused bedsheet. The paddles are a couple of damaged tent poles, with pieces of driftwood attached. A seaworthy vessel indeed! The joint skippers are Willie Holmes and Sax Pierce, two water rats along the bay side. Their exploits would fill a volume. The other day they started early in the morning for a half day's outing. The store chest (tobacco box) filled with salmon, pilot biscuits, and a sack of apricots, and the water was contained in an old pickle jar. They did not get back at the noon hour, and the anxi...

This trip takes you through an interesting district of the city, over a portion of the 1,400-acre City Park, up the beautiful Mission Valley to the Old Mission. This is the oldest Mission in California, established in 1769 by Father Junipero Serra, and the first of a chain of Franciscan Missions extending from San Diego to Sonoma. It is largely in rums and fast crumbling away, but the original adobe walls and some portions of the interior can yet be seen. The olive orchard at this Mission was started from cuttings brought from Spain, and is the oldest in California. All the olive trees in the State are children of this grove. There is also at this...

For men of sedentary occupation this club is excellent, for lazy men it is a panacea, for fat men it is a corker, for lean men it's a fattener. See the grand start from the ocean front opposite the float every morning, dull or shine, hot or cold, wet or dry. They are there! The running course has been surveyed and staked every quarter mile with posts. At the end of the mile is a supply of necessities (they call them medicines) for the sick or wounded. We think those medicines quite an inducement to join the club. The roll-call of the Five O'clock Club includes four canine members, and it will shortly be doubled, as the ubiquitous Fido is zealously increasing the strength of his body guard. The officers of the club are W. H. Holcomb, the genial County Clerk, as Pr...
