The weather fromn being rather overcast in the early mornilng, cleared up into a beautifully fine day, it being warm without being oppressively hot. Ar raongenents had been made for two special trains, which conveyed about 500 peoplo to the spot selected for the day's amusomont, where they arrijed soon after noon, having left Prince's? bridge station at about half-past ten: The trip up the Lilydale line war'a novelty to the majority of the plc; nickers, and when the pretty town it self was reached mainy expressionasbf admiration were heard regarding the beauty of the surrounding scenery. Cricket. YARRA FLATS V. ANDERSON'S UNITED. A cricket match was played on Saturday last between the above-named clubs, on the Watson's Creek cricket ground, and resulted in an easy victory for the visitors by on innings and nine runs to spare. The captain of the United team having won the toss elected to bat first, but owing to the good bowling of John and James Wil- son .were all disposed of for the small total of 25 runs ; T. Greenaway being the only one to get into double figures, which he did by steady cricket, going in first and carrying his bat, right through.-After the first, innings was over an adjournment ws made to Mr. Anderson's Hotel, where an excellent dinner was provided, and of course, done ample justice to. The Yarra Flatites then handled the willow and succeeded in putting together 84 runs before the last wicket fell. John Wil- son, J. Hubbard, and J.
