Geographically' speaking, Ave have from the beginning held premier place,.and it is manifest to everyone who knows where and how Port Darwin is situated, that, had the Northern Territory been the property of any other of tho colonies but South Australia, this country would now be occupying a very enviable position, young as it is, and, in fact, would be some twenty years ahead of its present state in point of com- parison with the southern colonies.
