Sliepparton Races. The above races took place yes terday in nice weather. Attend ance was anything but immense, tho fields were small, and no ex citing finishes were witnessed. Punters, on the whole, had a good day. Results :— Brush Hurdle Race—Paceawav 1, Green Finch 2, Nangkita 3, Maiden Plate— Gracilc l, Accident 2, Jack Cross 3. Handicap—Lady Eleanor J, Gracile 2. Buggy Horse Race Bud 1, Rosette 2, Jack 3. Maiden Trot—Maggie Huon 1, Dorothy F 2, Judge Lynch 3. Ladies' Brace let—Munich 1, Chester Bee 2, Maby 3. A number of horses went to the meeting from Dookie, and were very successful. They proved a great acquisition to the success of the meeting. In the Maiden Plate a protest was lodged against Gracile, on the ground that she was not a maiden. The hearing was adjourned for three weeks.

Easter Dloiulay Races anil Sports Club. The public should remember that the big event—Easter Mon day races and sports—of the year will take place on the Dookie racecourse, near Cosgrove, next Monday. The secretary, Mr. T. O'Dwyer) and committee, headed by the enthusiastic president, Mr. P. Lynch, have all the arrange mentis well in hand, and every thing possible has been done for the comfort and convenience of their patons. Given fine weather the assemblage should be a record one, and judging by the number of entries received for the horse events, as set out above, large fields should be assured. A quantity of interesting read ing matter will be found on the fourth page of this morning's issue of the " Recorder." After being held up for about three weeks or so awaiting the arrival of a farther supply of material, the contractors for the erection of the new station build ings at Dookie resumed operations on Monday last. The structure ■when complete should prove a most appreciable improvement for the transaction of business, both' from an official and public point of view. Being of the most mod ern architectural type of country stations, the general surroundings of our local station will be given an air of importance. Anyhow, it will certainly be a credit to the department in providing such a long-felt want at Dookie.
