THE NORTH AUSTRALIAN. IPSWfCH , TUESDAY , MARCH 18 1856 The great demand upon our space this week, for reports of electioneering meetings, and ad- vertisements, together with important local intelligence, a largo portion of which stands over until our next, puts it out of our power to offer any observations with respect to the leading topics of the day. We shall not fail, however, now that both written and verbal addresses are before the publio, of remedy- ing the inconvenience in our forthcoming number. The omission of leading matter is positively unavoidable, and we hope that readers will accept our apology.

THE NORTH AUSTRALIAN. rrswrcn, tuesdat, marcs 25. issc As the time of polling is fast approaching, wo consider it desirable, in accordance with the promise made in our last, to address- the Elec tors of the Stanley Boroughs, and to draw their attention to the deep importance of the contest about to be entered upon. TIhb is the more necessary, as we nnd that, at the last moment, candidates are entering the field who, judging from their published manifestoes, are evidently not the style of. ' men for Galway.' The inhabitants must be warned respecting divisions among themselves, in order that pre cautions 'may be used against mon who, under the guise of patriotism and philanthropy, but with, little eke to recommend them, hope to obtain the suffrages of the constituency, To obviate any danger from these gentlemen, and to enable the candidates who for some time have been in the field, and who have ulready gone through the ordeal of public meetings;1 to fight upon a fair and equal footing...

COVHTY OF STANLEY ELECTION. A meeting of the Electors of the County of Stanley was held at the Queen's Arms' Hotel, for the purpose of bearing *o explanation of the political views of Mr. Dorsev, one of the Candidates for the Count* of Stanley. The Urge room was filled in a short tltue, as were also the verandah and passages in the house. After some time had been lost, owing to the want of prior arrangements for a chairman, Mr. P. O'Sul iivan was called upon to preside. ' ' '. Mr. Doraey then came forward, and said 'that he wan not prepared to make a set speech with the viewof fully explaining his principles, and he had not had time to write out his address; owing to the un certainty of his standing as a candidate for the County. ' Having, however, overcome his reluctance, and drinking that although there had been some delay in meeting the voters, he had not Wst his chance of being elected, he was now prepared to answer any questions that might Ite pnt;ragiir-Ung his political tenet...
