Our New Zealand Letter, (fkom our own correspondent.) In my last letter I was so much engrossed in answering ' Queens lander's' accusations and queries that I omitted giving you any stock what ever. To make amends, I promise you this one shall contain news of stock, all stock, and nothing else but stock. What I might call the opening sheep sale of the season took place at Messrs. Malock and Lance's station, HorsleyDown, on February 20th. The sale consisted of 42,920 sheep of both merino and longwoolled breeds, the merino greatly predominating. The Horsley Down merinos have long been celebrated as one of the bnst fine country flocks in New Zealand, but now, like most mundane things, it has passed away, it is no more. The cause of its decease is this. All the leasehold of the estate was made over by the Government to the Midland Railway Company. CATTLE. 1692 Cattle yarded, which number proved to be more than equal to requirements, and consisted principally of Hunter River and Northern district satole, the quality generally being medium; and including a good proportion af cows. There was a fair attendance of buyers, including the Sydney Meat Preserving Company, who bought freely. Market opened dull and easier, but as sales proceeded and competition livened prices improved somewhat, and, although a decline on Thursday's rates must be recorded, values did not return to last Monday's low standard.
