PACKETS. ETC. Preparation for Post. Packets may be sent thr< ugh the pos without a cover (but not fastened with any' thing adhesive, such as gum, postagi stamp, sealing wax, etc.) ; in a cover irely open at one end or side (if the be slit, the opening must be of the extent of the end or side, and the contents must be easy of withdrawal). The cover may bear the sender's name and address, and the words, "packet," "sample," or "pattern," etc., as the case may be, "only." Packcts may be tied with string, but officers of the department may cut the string to examine the contents, and tie the packet up again. Samples of seeds, drugs, etc., which cannot be sent as open packcts, may be enclosed in bags or boxes, fastened so as to be easily undone and re-fastened. YIELIMA. Strath msrton journeyed to the bcal ! tennis courts, on Saturday, a pirty of four gents', and three ladies', to play a friendly game. The day was hot, and at times short wind storms, with dust, hindered the play. The strength of the teams was tested to' the fuilost extent. That Strathmor ton were stronger with their ladies', and that the local gents' had a silght advantage- over their male opponents is shown by the result:— Strathmerton 80 games,. Yielima 75 games. During the afternoon the local ladies' provided visitors and players with a tasty afternoon tea.

Ducks were faiily plentiful on the Moira Lakes, but water scarce.
