NEW NORTH-WEST. Jas. H. Mill., - - - I ditor £)D arPsV3eas. DUE IADPUE CITY, PRIDIY, OCT. 21. "WOODMAN, SPARE THAT TREE." We publish to day a communication from the Land Oflce regarding timber on public lands. The enf. reeuent of thiss regulation is an impossibility, it we are to have houses and fuel. We presume this letter received from the t)!partment Is a Circularaddressed to all Registers and Receivers in the United States. In smme localitiis it Is doubtless a necessary and wise rmeasure to protect tim iser lands from spollation and waste. But to this Territory it is laapplicable. We doubt if any attempt will be made to en force it for years and it should be repealed or modilled so far as relates to Montana. There is no timber In the valley's, except in Missoula county. The mountains where it grows are unsurveyed. The timber land mist remain public land, at least until these surveys are made, and in the mean titne we need lumber, fencing and fuel. As a general thing turinstructi...
