CARRIZOZO NEWS A Journal Devoted to the Interests of Lincoln County. VOLUME y. CARRI55050, LINCOLN COUNTY, NEW MEXICO, DECEMBER 11. tJ08. NUMBER 41 LET IT RUHAIN NEW rtBXICO. Many have made the sugges tion and some ha7c grown elo quent over the proposition that, in the event of statehood, the new state should assume another name. Some have suggested the name of Lincoln, to which we would interpose no objection, if we were nameless, while various other name have heen mentioned, all with the idea of getting away from the name of a foreign coun try. It is urged by these advo cates that such a proposition would give us strength in the cast, where, it is said, many pco pie still consider our territory a part of Mexico; and, therefore, a prejudice has been created in the minds of that people, Aside from the sentiment that is interwoven with the name of New Mexico, let us sec if that sec tion of the country is justified in condemning us for the derivation of the name. New Hampshire took it...
