For several years past the Richmond and Danville Combination, a wealthy railroad syndicate of the North, has in terested itself in Southern railroads. One by one the various lines which traverse the State have fallen into its bands until now, with possibly two ex ceptions, a controlling interest is held in every road in Sooth Carolina. It is true that its operations have been to us in some, respects of considerable advan tage; for with ample means at its dis posal it has put dilapidated and non paying railroads in good repair, ad ding to the value of taxable property and increasing the comfort, safety and dis patch of passenger transportation.
