Health Center offers Polio-Tetanus shots The Northeast Community Health Council will sponsor an evening Polio-Tetanus immunization clinic on Tuesday. April 28. 5;30 to 8 p.m. at the Northeast Health Center, 2032 Marengo, announced Dr. Betsy B. MacCracken, Northeast District Health Officer. Polio immunization will be offered in two forms at one dollar each. Salk vaccine given by injection win be available as well as the (three in one) polk) vaccine given on a sugar cube. Valley Portal Kiwanis Club plans big dance Marion J. Varner, president of Valley Portal Club, announced the club’s sponsorship of a dance Saturday, April 25, at the American Legion Hall, 3355 N. Eastern. El Sereno. Ail proceeds will go toward support of the annual Fourth of July Parade. The theme this year will be "Spirit of 76." Funeral services for Leslie Hart Funeral services for Leslie J. Hart, of El Sereno, were held last Tuesday at Pierce Bros.Fred A. Turner in Alhambra. Bom in Sodus, Mich., he lived in this area 54 years. He was associated with the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel for a number of years. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Goldie Hart, and two nieces. Rev. Ralph Vandersall officiated at services. Interment was at Angelus Abbey.

Danielson urges citizens attend freeway hearing Assemblyman George E. Danielson reminded area residents this week of the importance of attending the May 7 public hearing announced by the Highway Department for the purpose of obtaining community reaction to proposed routes of the Long Beach Freeway extension through El Sereno. Danielson emphasized that once a freeway route is established it will have a permanent effect on the community, md he termed as of "prime imjortance” that all persons inr terested and who will be affected by the final determination of the route should appear at the 9:30 a.m. hearing to voice their opinions by speaking or asking questions. Pasadena Civic Auditorium, where the hearing will be held, is known to accommodate 3000. Danielson pointed out that a map outlining the proposed routes, is currently on display at the fire station at 4927 N. Huntington Drive and, according to station Captain Ben Brewer, may be viewed by the public from 8 a.m. to 10 pjn. daily....

Want to help Gravois on hot dog day? Gravols Avenue School PTA will serve hot dog lunch Thursday, April 30. Collection will be Tuesday, April 28. Anyone wishing to help on either day is asked to call Mrs. Charles R. Diaz, co-ways and means chairman at CA 2-0621. Those helping on the collection day should be at Gravols from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. On the day of the lunch help is needed from 12 mothers between 10:30 a.m. and 12:15 pm. The Gravois PTA serves three different lunches. A lunch that has one hot dog, ice cream cup, and package of carrot sticks, is 25 cents. For 40 cents an additional hot dog will be served with the lunch. Those wishing two of everything can get It for 50 cents.
