SYDNEY. August 21. Dann has recovered £600 damages from the Australian Steam Navigation Company for the   loss of his horses on one of their steamers on the   voyage from Townsville to Melbourne. Octavius Barker has been committed for trial for representing himself the father of a   girl and inducing a clergyman to celebrate her marriage. The "Victoria." steamer, arrived yesterday at   Townsville, from Bowen. Mr Warden Charters is, we are sorry to say, very ill at the Broughton, and unable to resume his duties. A share in the St. Patrick No 1 S.E., changed   hands yesterday for the sum of £1550, the pur-     chaser being Mr David Nagle and the owner Mr     P. Maguire. Mr. Dan Briggs takes his benefit to-morrow night, in the Oddfellows Hall. He has established a claim to generous support here, and we hope   he will have a "bumper" house.   &am...
