THE CONCERT IN THE EVENING. The same evening a concert was held in the Assembly Hall; and passed off most- suc- cessfully. The local performers were, qb.'y assisted by sevrraT from the district, and 1 neighboring town of Berrigan,- who, at grea'. inconvenience were present to render, as sistance. From the rapturous applause by which they, and in fact nil the performers were received by an appreciative audience was m itself some recompense for the trouble. The committee desire also to tender them their grateful thanks for their heln on this 1 occasion. We regret that want of space nnd time compells us to curtail our remarks, suffice to say that the concert last night was one of the most enjoyable ever held in this town. The annual races of the St. Patrick's Day Racing Club came off yesterday, and as far as the financial, part of it was concerned was most successful. The day was beauti fully fino and the roads to the course excel lent, but the attendance was meagre. The racing in all the events except the Selling Hack was good. As most of the favorites got home, tho public as a whole scored on the ' Knights of the pencil.' The stewards carried out their duties most satisfactorily, not a hitch occurring from start to finish. Dr. Robinson was at his post as judge, while Mr. E. Hitchins again wielded tho starter's flag. .-Mr, Fogarty, as one of the hon; secre taries, catried out his duties in a manner that showed lie was no novicc at :the game. Mr. C. J.
